There are so many vendors in Pakistan whom are taking animals trafficking as a serious business. This profession is running on the same notes of human trafficking. People kidnapped animals from streets and homes and sale to vendors at cheap prices and then they sell those animals in shops.
This matter gets more serious when we see the increasing rate of local animals’ bazaars. In these markets, sellers are delinquents and buyers are also the vendors whom buy these animals and resell in some luxurious ways like online procedures. These buyers are normally those whom don’t have a pet before or those whom have so many pets at home and have a continuous business to buy and sell; they only trade pet animals without any generous intentions.

So here are four initial stages of vendors:

  1. These are felons; these people charge for matting and sell the kittens of around some weeks old.
  2. Second are the young offenders, these guys kidnap animals like cats, birds and dogs and sell those doleful souls to local shop vendors.
  3. These guys are the delinquents whom buy kidnapped animals eventually we can say that these vendors are the root-cause of this clique.
  4. Forth is very obvious the guys and girls whom buy these animals and resell and that’s how this circle will never get stopped.
Generally, we all adore animals in our lives. We adopt animals to make our loved ones happy; we pay for the circus and zoo tickets to make our kids happy, but in all this deportment we forget that we are eventually appreciating animals trafficking and cruelty.
Animal cruelty has so many genders and factions like neglect ion, industrial farming, psychological disorders, cultural rituals, film making, circus, warfare, unnecessary scientific experiments and many others.
We all customarily ignore the animals’ rights in our daily life, by passing through a road when a donkey is over-loaded with iron-rods and immensely hungry or thirsty, when a cat and dog in yours street is sick or injured, when a bird needs water and food.

Legal rights for Animals
Most of us mentioned that there is no law in Pakistan to secure animal rights. It is true that there is no utter animal rights act in Pakistan, but it doesn’t mean that there is no law at all. We all must acknowledge that there is an act named as The Pakistan Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1890. It is a kind of semi-act which can at least secure animals from cruelty, it has very less punishment, but it has sects which allow law enforcement agencies to arrest and punish professional and home based vendors.

According to Pakistan Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1890
Section 3, Act XI of 1890

3. If any person —
a) overdrives, beats, or otherwise treats any animal so as to subject it to unnecessary pain or suffering, or
b) blinds, keeps, carries or consigns for carriage any animal in such manner or position as to subject it to unnecessary pain or suffering, or
c) offers for sale or without reasonable cause has in his possession any live animal which is suffering pain by reason of mutilation, starvation, thirst, over-crowding or other ill-treatment, or
d) offers for sale any dead animal which he has reason to believe has been killed in an unnecessarily cruel manner, or
e) without reasonable cause abandons any animal in circumstances which render it likely that it will suffer pain by reason of starvation or thirst,

he shall be punished, in the case of a first offence, with fine which may extend to fifty rupees, or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month and, in the case of second or subsequent offence committed within three years of the previous offence, with fine which may extend to one hundred rupees, or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with both.

3-A. (1) If any person overloads any animal, he shall be punished with fine which may extend to fifty rupees, or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month.
(2) If the owner of any animal, or any person who, either as a trader, carrier or contractor or by virtue of his employment by a trader, carrier, or contractor, is in possession of, or in control of the loading of such animal, he shall be punished with fine which may extend to one hundred rupees.

Now, all questions might be clear that what people can do if they will ever see any cruel behavior with animals. They can initially arrange and provide good food and clear water to illegally capture animals and meanwhile they can convince a social servicing group, media and police to help them out because animals have equal rights (kind of).

Animal Rights in Islam
There are many of us who enjoy to treat others as servants, but we should never forget that Islam forbid us to be cruel with other living beings. It is crystal clear in Islam that we can't behave with savagery. Islam defines the complete rights distribution even for animals and trees.

  • As in Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it is described that: “Mercy towards animals is could help you to get closer to God. Allah’s Apostle narrated the following story, “An adulterous passed by a dog at a well; and the dog was holding out his tongue from thirst, which was near killing him, and the woman drew off her boot, and tied it to the end of her garment, and drew water for the dog, and gave him to drink; and she was forgiven for that act. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Kindness is a mark of faith and whoever has not kindness has no faith.”
  • In Bukhari Shareef, a Hadith reads as follows: “All creatures are like a family (Ayal) of God: and he loves the most those who are the most beneficent to His family.” - Resource Muslim Academy.

One of the well-known local Islamic scholar Mufti Muhammad Akmal described trading of animals according to Islam; He mentioned that trading of animals is utterly Haram except trading of those animals which we are allowed to eat and use as transport and security. He highlighted that Islam forbids trading of all kinds of birds and pets so the money, which people gross or earn from selling pets is absolutely Haram.
